On the night of the recording, Maya was more nervous than she had ever been before. Her hands were shaking and her mouth was dry. But as soon as she sat down at the grand piano and placed her fingers on the keys, all of her nervousness disappeared. The music took over her mind and body.

After they submitted the audition, all Maya could do was wait. The foundation would announce the selected performers in one week. Maya tried to continue her normal practice routine, but it was hard to concentrate. Every day felt like a year.
Maya's story had attracted attention from local newspapers and television stations. Reporters wanted to interview her about her audition for the benefit concert. Most of them were supportive and encouraging, but some asked difficult questions about whether she was really qualified to perform with professional musicians.
"Do you think you are good enough to share a stage with Victor Holbrook?" one reporter asked.
Maya took a deep breath before answering. "I do not know if I am as technically skilled as Victor Holbrook," she said honestly. "But I know that I have worked as hard as anyone to learn this music.
