Don't rush to put ripe bananas in the refrigerator, do this extra step so that the whole month is not mushy and does not darken

To keep ripe bananas spoiled for a long time, follow the method below.

Bananas are a nutritious, easy-to-eat fruit with low prices. This fruit is especially good for the digestive system, helps with laxatives, fights constipation.

Although delicious, bananas are relatively difficult to store. Bananas when ripe will spoil very quickly. If refrigerated, the bananas will also turn dark, soft, and no longer delicious.

To store bananas for a long time, you need a few small tricks.

Hanging bananas high

The bananas are washed with salted water and baking soda. The ratio of salt to baking soda is 1:1.

Gently rub your hands to remove dirt from the banana peel.

Then, take the bananas and wash them under clean water and dry the bananas with a towel. Leave the bananas in a cool place to dry completely. Cover the stem of the banana with plastic wrap or foil. This is the part that secretes a lot of ethylene – a substance that can stimulate fruit to ripen quickly.

Finally, hang the bananas high. Keep the banana bunch in a suspended state without being pinched or bumped into surrounding objects. Whichever fruit you use, you just need to use a knife to cut that fruit.

Note, this method will not be used for bananas with cracked skins.

Use foil or plastic wrap to store bananas

First, you should also wash the bananas thoroughly, then dry them and store them in a dry place. Separate each banana for easy storage.

Cover each banana with plastic wrap or foil and store it in the refrigerator. This will help the bananas last a long time without becoming mushy and dark.

Use orange/lemon juice

With peeled ripe bananas, you can keep them fresh for longer thanks to the use of orange/lemon juice. The substances in these two juices will help slow down the oxidation of bananas.

Spread a thin layer of orange/lemon juice on the surface of ripe bananas. With the banana cut into pieces, you just need to add a few drops of lemon juice or orange juice to the banana and mix well. Place the bananas in a container with a tightly closed lid and place in the refrigerator. Peeled bananas should be used as soon as possible.

Note, with this method, the taste of the bananas will be slightly affected by the orange/lemon juice.

Freezing

To store bananas for a long time, you should take them to freezing. The frozen bananas can be used as smoothies or cakes.

You can peel the bananas, leave them whole, or cut them into pieces as you like. Place the bananas in a box or zip bag and place them in the freezer.
One of the principles of storing bananas that you need to remember is to keep them away from other fruits, especially those that release a lot of ethylene such as avocados, peaches, tomatoes, and apples.
