A classic film starring Reeves has recently been the talk of social media, as it was released on Netflix on Monday (September 1), 33 years after its theatrical debut.

The 1992 movie, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is based on Bram Stoker's iconic novel. The film, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, reportedly saw Reeves and Winona Ryder unintentionally marrying each other. The story follows young barrister Jonathan Harker (Reeves), who is sent to work in a remote village in Eastern Europe.

Soon, he is captured and imprisoned by Dracula (Gary Oldman), who then travels to London to pursue Harker’s fiancée, Mina Murray (Ryder). Dracula proceeds to seduce and terrorize Mina’s friend, Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost), but, as expected in a horror film, things don’t go as planned.

While the film is over three decades old, many viewers will be watching it for the first time now that it’s available on Netflix.

One reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes described it as "very near to cinematic perfection" and declared it one of their "all-time favorite gothic horror films."

Another wrote: "The Godfather of modern gothic horror and one of the greatest horror films ever... even with some of the over-the-top acting from Ryder and Reeves." Keanu Reeves featured in the 1992 movie (Alex Bierens de Haan/Getty Images)

A third reviewer commented: "The movie was brilliant, and arguably the most faithful adaptation of the novel." Bram Stoker’s Dracula holds a solid 69% critic score and a 79% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a strong contender for a weekend watch.

The Philadelphia Inquirer noted: "There’s a lot happening in this film, which can be overwhelming. Yet, the very excess of it is what gives Coppola's movie its undeniable charm. If there is beauty in excess, this film is glorious."

Meanwhile, The Telegraph offered a mixed review, stating: "The performances are exceptional, the set design is a visual masterpiece, and the cinematography is stunning. Bram Stoker’s Dracula only falters in its overly faithful attempt to adapt the novel almost religiously."

Bram Stoker's Dracula is available for streaming now on Netflix.
