Meghan Markle Shares Heartfelt Moment with Daughter Lilibet During Nigeria Visit
During a recent trip abroad, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, opened up about a touching conversation she had with her daughter, Princess Lilibet. The moment occurred during the Sussexes’ three-day tour in Nigeria, marking their first international trip since stepping back from their royal duties.
A Special Conversation:
On May 10, while visiting Lightway Academy in Nigeria, Meghan shared an intimate glimpse into her life as a mother. Speaking to a group of kindergarten students, she recounted a recent conversation with her 2-year-old daughter. “Our daughter, Lili, she’s much, much tinier than you guys,” Meghan told the children, adding that Lilibet will soon turn three. “A few weeks ago, all she could see when she looked at me was the reflection of my eyes. Then she said, ‘Mama, I see myself in you.’”

Meghan, 42, described how those words deeply resonated with her. “While she was speaking so literally, my interpretation was quite profound. ‘Yes, I do see myself in you, and you see me in you,’” she reflected.
Connecting with the Children:
The Duchess continued to draw parallels between her family and the children at the academy. “As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well,” Meghan remarked, as she and Prince Harry engaged in various activities with the students. The couple participated in singing, dancing, and games, which Meghan noted are Lilibet’s favorite activities. “Perhaps it’s all the hopping around,” she mused.

Family Life in the Spotlight:
Despite their efforts to maintain privacy, the Sussexes occasionally share glimpses into their family life. In February, Prince Harry discussed their children on Good Morning America, noting that they are growing up quickly and have developed a great sense of humor. “They both make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day,” he said. “I’m just really appreciative to be a father.”
Meghan Markle’s heartfelt recounting of her conversation with Princess Lilibet highlights the deep bonds within the Sussex family. As they continue to navigate their public and private lives, these tender moments offer a window into the personal side of their journey. The family’s recent activities underscore their ongoing commitment to connecting with others and sharing their experiences, even as they maintain their privacy.
