"Well, David, you still can't stay here. This is a working concert hall. We have rehearsals starting in an hour."David nodded and started walking toward the exit. But as he was leaving, he turned back one more time to look at the piano. The longing in his eyes was so strong that even Tom noticed it."That kid really loves music," Tom whispered to William.William watched as David walked slowly toward the door. Something about the way David had looked at the piano made William think there was more to this story, but he had a job to do and a concert to prepare for. He couldn't let a homeless stranger distract him from his responsibilities. As David reached the exit, William called out one more time: "David, don't come back here without permission. Next time, we will call the police."David stopped and nodded without turning around. Then he walked out into the morning light, leaving William with a strange feeling that he had just missed something important. The rehearsal was about to begin, and the orchestra members would start arriving soon. William tried to focus on his music sheets, but he kept thinking about the sad, peaceful look in David's eyes when he stared at the piano.Little did William know that this chance encounter was about to change everything he thought he knew about music, talent, and the power of giving someone a second chance. The next few days would test everything William believed about who deserved to make music and who didn't.As the first violin player walked in for rehearsal, William was still thinking about David. He wondered where the young man would sleep tonight, and whether he would try to come back. Part of him hoped he wouldn't, but another part of him was strangely curious about what would happen if he did.The next morning, William arrived at the concert hall earlier than usual. He couldn't stop thinking about David and wanted to make sure the security was better. As he walked through the lobby, he saw Lisa Rodriguez, the assistant manager, talking with the security guards. Lisa had been working at the concert hall for five years. She was young, smart, and really cared about music. The musicians liked her because she always tried to help them with their problems. William respected her opinion, even though they sometimes disagreed about things."Good morning, William," Lisa said as she saw him approaching. "Tom was just telling me about yesterday's incident."William nodded. "Yes, we had a break-in. A homeless man was sitting at the piano. We got him out, but we need to be more careful about security."Lisa looked thoughtful. "Can you describe this person? What did he look like?"William found this question strange. "Why does it matter? He was just a homeless guy: dirty clothes, messy hair, probably on drugs or something."
