Then he dropped to one knee in the marble lobby of the Orpheum Theater, pulling a small velvet box from his jacket pocket, a ring he'd bought that afternoon with money from his first Sterling Dynamics consulting check.

"Victoria Sterling," he said, his voice carrying clearly through the lobby. "Will you marry me?"

The theater erupted in applause even before Victoria could answer, but her radiant yes was heard by everyone present.

As Ethan slipped the ring onto Victoria's finger, Emma and Mia cheered louder than the entire adult crowd combined.

"And that," Judge Caldwell announced to the assembled guests, "is how you beat a lie with the truth."

6 months later, the morning sun cast long shadows across the expanded Rodriguez Auto Repair and Training Center. Its freshly painted sign gleaming in the Arizona dawn.

The original building still stood proudly on Maple Street, but now it was connected to a modern facility that housed the Sterling Dynamics Automotive Division, creating a bridge between two worlds that had once seemed impossibly far apart.

Ethan arrived at 6:00 a.m., a habit he'd maintained, even though he no longer needed to open alone.

The parking lot that had once held only his beat up pickup truck now accommodated a steady stream of vehicles, Sterling Dynamics fleet cars, neighborhood residents seeking affordable repairs, and apprentices arriving for the morning training session.

"Early as always," Victoria observed, emerging from her own car with two cups of coffee and a knowing smile.

She had made it a routine to stop by before heading to her downtown office, claiming she needed to check on the integration progress, but really just wanting to start each day with 20 minutes of normalcy before diving into corporate responsibilities.

"Old habits," Ethan replied, accepting the coffee and a quick kiss that still made his heart race after months of marriage. "Besides, Emma and Mia will be here in an hour for the Saturday apprentice program, and you know how they like everything perfect for their students."

The Saturday program was Emma's idea. Naturally, she'd convinced both parents that elementary school children should have the opportunity to learn basic automotive skills alongside computer programming.

"Cars and computers both have systems," she argued with the logic that had made her famous among Phoenix's social elite. "Kids should understand how both kinds of systems work."

Through the shop's windows, Ethan could see Mrs. Chen setting up the community breakfast area. Another innovation born from the children's practical wisdom.

"People work better when they're not hungry," Mia had announced after noticing that some apprentices skipped meals to afford bus fare.

The breakfast program funded by Sterling Dynamics but run by neighborhood volunteers had become an unexpected community gathering point.

"How's the expansion coming?" Victoria asked, nodding toward the construction crews already at work on the second phase of the project.

"Ahead of schedule thanks to having customers who actually pay their bills," Ethan replied with a grin. "Turns out corporate accounts are more reliable than hoping Mrs. Rodriguez can afford her brake pads this month."
